Amy Knight

OWNER + STYLIST AT VIVID BEAUTY BAR

A young woman with blonde wavy hair and glasses is standing in a modern salon or barbershop, holding an iced coffee. She is dressed in a black denim jacket, black t-shirt, and black jeans, with sneakers. Behind her is a wooden wall with a round mirror, shelves with skincare products, and a framed photo. A neon sign of a hand making a rock and roll gesture is on the wall.

Hairstylist, salon owner in Glendale, Arizona — creative, professional overthinker, and firm believer that getting your hair done should feel like one of the best parts of your week.

This was never just a job to me.

A woman with long wavy hair sitting in a black chair, holding a notebook and pen, looking to her right, in a cozy room with wooden paneling, a large vase of white flowers, candles, and a neon sign in the background.

I am a second-generation hairstylist who practically grew up in a salon. I have been behind the chair since 2009, but hair has been part of my life for much longer than that. What began as something familiar became the creative career and business I genuinely love.

Creativity, backed by intention.

I love the creative side of hair, but I never create without a plan. Every decision—from color placement to extension density—is based on your hair, your lifestyle, your maintenance preferences, and the long-term health of your hair.

No two clients receive a copy-and-paste service. The goal is not simply beautiful hair. It is hair that feels like you.

Beautiful hair is important.
But feeling comfortable, understood, and cared for matters just as much.

The role that deepened everything

Silhouette of a father and mother touching foreheads with their baby, creating an intimate moment of love and connection.

Becoming Ace’s mom gave me an even deeper appreciation for how much people carry into the salon with them. We all have lives happening beyond the chair—families, responsibilities, celebrations, stress, grief, growth, and about seventeen things competing for our attention at once.

It also gave me a new understanding of how meaningful it can be to make time for yourself, especially as a mom. Sometimes a hair appointment is one of the only moments in the week that belong entirely to you.

I love getting to connect with other women and moms in a way I understand differently now—to talk about the beautiful parts, the exhausting parts, and everything no one really prepares you for. Motherhood has made me appreciate my clients even more and has deepened my commitment to creating a space where you can relax, feel cared for, and enjoy a little time that is entirely your own.

Outside the salon

When I’m not behind the chair, I’m usually spending time with my husband and our son, getting outside for a little fresh air and nature, or enjoying a good book, podcast, reality show, or true-crime documentary at home.

I’m a true homebody who also loves to hike, regularly falls into unnecessary research rabbit holes, and has business ideas at completely unreasonable hours. And on the very rare occasion life allows it, I fully appreciate a good bed-rot day.

The kind of space I wanted to create

I wanted Vivid Beauty Bar to feel beautiful, but never intimidating. Professional, but never stiff. Elevated, but still comfortable enough that you can show up as yourself.

You do not need perfect hair, the perfect inspiration photo, or the perfect words to explain what you want. We will figure it out together.
